During that time, whether we’re visiting a home or business, there are certain recurring issues we keep being asked about. It seems like, as time goes on, everything continues to get more expensive. Helpful Plumbing Tips to Save You Money
Every year, it’s a good idea to perform some easy and fast preventative maintenance to the plumbing system of your living space or workspace. Keep reading for 3 simple things to check.
- Believe it or not, but lowering the temperature on your water heater by just a couple of degrees can save you a lot in the long run. Ideally, it should be set no higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit. A water heater blanket is another worthy investment. It adds insulation around the water tank, which means the heater requires less energy to heat the water.
- Older fixtures in your shower head, faucets, or toilet can leak over time, costing you money and wasting water. But when you replace those fixtures with updated low-flow versions, you’ll save. Remember that water savings equals savings on your monthly utility bill, plus newer fixtures are more environmentally responsible.
- Be sure to check the functionality of your drains and sump pumps. For the drain, if water doesn’t go down fast, there’s a clog somewhere. With the sump pump, simply pour a couple of buckets of water into it. If it turns on and dispels water, you’re in good shape.
